Unhappy

Well I found a set of Addy's books a bit ago (all 6 of them) and I said... "I'm going to get those!" So I bid up to 9 bucks as the auction was closing and lost them!!

Oh I so want to read Addy's stories... I had my heart set on them... and it has been dashed on the pavement! It seems like where ever Addy is concerned I'm just not ment to succeed.

(oh and by the way it was an auction just for the books, I didn't have the cash to bid on the auction that was just won with Addy and the books... though I was soo very tempted to put myself into debt)

I know it hurts when you lose out on an auction. I'm sure it's happened to most of us at least one time, but there IS an auction out there with your name as the winner. Be patient. You just might eventually get it for cheaper than the $9.00 you bid today.

Patience is key!
I won Addy's books 2 month ago for $5. I searched for a while.
You'll get them, trust me!
Have you tried www.half.com?
I love using it, I just got Kailey's book new for 75 cents. It is worth a shot to look, sometimes a book will be listed individually, but in the description the seller includes others as well.
Good Luck!

Yeah I know... I loose auctions all the time... and they don't normally sting this much... I think its because I've always really been interested in Addy.

I hesitate this to tell this story, but I really feel I need to get it off my chest... its bothered me for a while.

When I was little and Addy had just been released I really wanted her. I don't know she was always kind of magical to me. I had planned on getting her the christmas I got my AGoT Asian Kaede, and had my heart set on her. Well, when I was composing my list for my mom (we lived at my grandparents at the time because this is when my parents were going through a divorce) my grandmother (whom just to back track is a wonderful person and I love her dearly and it this reason I hesitate telling the story) saw my list. She did not want me to have a "black" doll because I am a "white" little girl. It crushed me... and it still makes me feel sick to this day. You have to understand that my grandmother is like my mom we are soo close, and its kind of a devesating thing when someone that close tells you something like that. So for years I've wanted her... I am going to get her... but it still hurts... I kinda got the talk like I was a bad person for wanting her, and it was at a very devestating and impressionable time in my life.

I just really needed to get that off my chest... and I think if i read addy's stories I'll finally be able to say "Screw you guys... I'm getting my doll!"

I really want Addy too. I have always liked her face and hair, but when I was yougner, I didn't like her meet dress because it was pink, so I never got her (silly, I know). Now I want her a lot, but I keep having to buy other dolls because they are LE or on ebay and I can't pass them up. Addy keeps getting pushed down on the list. This year I will get her. She is so gorgeous and such a great character in the books too!

Good luck with getting Addy and the books yourself!

Miss Nellie--

I saw the book set, too, last night when I was bidding on Addy.

You are starting to sound like me. Seriously, I never thought I'd really buy an Addy so soon, so hopefully you will come across a great deal on books and/or the doll.

And I know what you mean about your parents/grandparents. Things have changed (thank goodness!), but people of our grandparents' generations don't have any idea how important diversity is.

Like Marisol05 said, I love the fact that my dd can have (and will have, I hope), dolls of all different colors and backgrounds.

(((HUGS))) [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

I kinda figured it was something like that when you posted on the other thread about not getting Addy as a child and that you were crushed. Unfortunately, not everything that our elders tell us as children is in our best interest but they are just handing down thier beliefs based on their experiences or upbringing. My mom was so strict with me I always felt I was living in 1950s Cuba only in 1980s New York!

The beauty of being an adult is that you can now form your own beliefs and opinions AND buy whatever you want with your money. Who doesn't like it...OH WELL, too bad. I used to have a coworker who did not buy her dd anything but black/ethnic dolls. There's nothing wrong with that, but if her dd wanted a doll other than that, she adamantly refused. I feel that's wrong. She also tried to talk me out of buying Disney princess bedding/curtains for my dd's room because they were white. Disney? You gotta be kidding me, but to each his own I guess. I love for my dd to have dolls of all coloring.

I don't want this to turn into some hot topic here, I just wanted to say I understand where you're coming from. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks soo much you have made me feel alot better. I know that it was wrong of her to say those things to me, and that I should have gotten Addy when I was a child. Seeing as I am so in love with different cultures, especially their mythology! It just happened at such an impressionable time in my life... a time which with all honesty I am still not over... Instead of my normal "I am rubber you are glue what ever you say bounces off me and sticks to you" additude was non existant then.

It just kind of make me sad... I do kinda feel stupid for saying anything... but at the same time feel better that I have actually shared it with someone! Not even my mom knows that that bothered me. I really wanted Addy's Thimble puppets too!!

After telling this story I had nothing but bad dreams all night =/ And at first I could not figure out why I was dreaming of nothing but divorce... Its soo funny how some things stick with us. I have made my mind up... I am going to get Addy this upcoming year. I will not let them conquer me! I really want to get jess on the 26th so I'm putting my budget towards her... but I want to get Addy as soon as possible afterwards... She's going to break the spell of sorrow!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Good for you!

When you do get Addy's stories, you will love them. And they will mean so much to you.

If you were my Secret Santa girl, I'd get you a set! (Because they would hit the limit with the Code easily!)

Addy is definitely our next addition. My niece is getting Addy for Christmas and I can't wait to see a "live" one!
